Today we’re shedding the light on witches, magic and casting spells!  First however, I have some questions for you:

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word witch? Do you have positive or negative impressions of witches?  Have you ever reflected on where those impressions came from? 

Beginning in the 1400s, witches were persecuted for their beliefs and unfairly portrayed by those in power.  The lasting effect has been a fear and misunderstanding of what it truly means to be a witch. In today’s episode, we will develop a more complete understanding of and appreciation for witches. 

Our guest is Casey Zabala, an artist, tarot reader, intuitive mystic, and the founder of Modern Witches Confluence – an annual gathering for witches and the witch-curious in San Francisco.  Casey has been studying the tarot and giving readings for 17 years and also created the Wanderer’s Tarot and Wyrd Sisters Oracle decks.

• What is a witch?  What are some rituals and tools that witches use?
• A brief history of witches and what the witch hunt was really about
• What is magic?  Casey describes it beautifully as “the practice of focusing an intention and using your will to create change in the world”
• What are spells?  How can we use them to manifest our desires?
• Practical tool: At the end of the episode (minute 26:20), Casey will guide us through a deeply grounding  meditation to help us connect to mother Earth in a powerful and heartfelt way.
• Question to ponder: What does it mean to be grounded?  What are some practices that make you feel grounded?
